Green Genius and RGREEN INVEST make €42M deal to build 65.7 MW solar parks in Lithuania

Renewable energy company Green Genius, operating in 8 European markets, and RGREEN INVEST, an investment company based in Paris, France, arranged a financial agreement to build eight solar PV projects in Lithuania – amounting to a total capacity of 65.7 MW. Both companies share a strong aspiration toward sustainability. "The green transition requires capital providers with financial and specific technical competence in the renewable energy field. That is what makes our partners so appreciated. The funding empowers us to deliver additional green and independent generation capacity to Lithuania," - said Rokas Bancevičius, CFO at Green Genius. "Faced with the imperative to sever European dependence on energy imports, it is crucial to remain operational by finding substitutes to our carbon-intensive electricity mix," -stresses Nicolas Rochon, RGREEN INVEST's CEO. - "Boasting increasingly shorter development durations and cost efficiency, renewables enable us to decarbonize our interconnected European grid and increase our entire continent's energetic independence." The solar power plants in Lithuania are scheduled to be built by 2024. They are projected to generate an estimated 82 400 MWh of green energy per year, and save over 34 600 tons of CO2, according to Green Genius’ calculation methodology. These parks will provide green electricity to the B2B sector.

Green Genius is to build a 100 MW solar PV project in Latvia Renewable energy company Green Genius, operating in 8 European markets, is about to build a 100 MW solar PV project in Latvia. It is the first Green Genius’ project of this scale in Latvia, which enables further development in this Baltic country.  "Latvia has very good potential with attractive terms and reasonable regulation for solar PV development. We’ve been looking into it for quite some time now. I’m happy to announce a stepping into the project that will definitely have a tangible impact on Latvia’s sustainability and energy independence", - says Simonas Šileikis, Head of Solar Business at Green Genius. The 100 MW project is located in Jekabpils, Central-East of the country. It will be one of the biggest Solar PV power plants in the Latvian market, taking over 151 ha area. The power plant shall be fully authorized and ready for construction by June of this year. The total planned investment into this solar project is around €90 million. 100MW will save 100 000 tons of CO2 yearly - as much as 2 million young trees processes per year. This electricity would be enough for about 41 000 households. Green Genius entered the Latvian market back in 2019 with smaller-scale B2B solutions and a long-term, large-scale renewable energy projects development projection.
Green Genius and OX2 to agree on 152 MW solar projects acquisition in Spain Renewable energy company Green Genius, operating in 8 European markets, and OX2 have signed an agreement by which OX2 acquires a portfolio from Green Genius of six late-stage solar power projects in Spain with a total capacity of 152 MW.   The projects are located in Andalusia, Spain's area with the highest level of solar radiation. All the acquired late-stage projects have obtained environmental permits. "The projects in Andalusia have been developed with great care and are highly appreciated in the market. We're pleased to pass it over to a trustworthy new owner. Meanwhile, Green Genius is to continue focusing on the search and development of new projects", - said Ruslanas Sklepovičius, CEO of Green Genius. "I am very pleased to be able to announce our second acquisition of solar power projects in Spain, which is a market with considerable potential for OX2. Spain is one of Europe's largest renewable energy markets, with ambitious sustainable energy targets and strong investor interest," said Paul Stormoen, CEO of OX2. Green Genius has been developing solar PV projects in Spain since 2018. Garrigues acted as a legal adviser to Green Genius.
