First Batteries Delivered to One of the Largest Green Genius Battery Parks in the Baltics

Renewable energy company Green Genius has entered the final construction phase of its 49 MW / 196 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the Jurbarkas district. The BESS equipment containers have already arrived at the site, and installation work is currently underway. The battery park is located adjacent to an 80 MW wind farm operated by the company.

The company recently secured an additional €50 million in financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The majority of these funds will be directed toward expanding the company’s battery energy storage portfolio.

Co-locating the battery park with the wind farm will create an efficient hybrid renewable energy complex. This setup allows excess wind energy to be stored and supplied to the grid during periods of peak demand, enhancing the flexibility and reliability of the Lithuanian energy system. The 196 MWh capacity will help secure the energy reserves necessary for grid stability.

“This project clearly reflects our strategic direction: not only generating green energy but also ensuring its reliable integration into the energy system. Co-locating the battery park with the wind farm is an efficient, sustainable solution that maximizes existing infrastructure and creates greater value for the entire energy ecosystem. As a market leader, we recognize our responsibility to drive the adoption of innovative solutions,” says Ruslanas Sklepovičius, CEO of Green Genius.

The battery park is scheduled to begin testing and commissioning this summer, with full-scale operations expected by September 2026.
