First Batteries Delivered to One of the Largest Green Genius Battery Parks in the Baltics

Renewable energy company Green Genius has entered the final construction phase of its 49 MW / 196 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the Jurbarkas district. The BESS equipment containers have already arrived at the site, and installation work is currently underway. The battery park is located adjacent to an 80 MW wind farm operated by the company.

The company recently secured an additional €50 million in financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The majority of these funds will be directed toward expanding the company’s battery energy storage portfolio.

Co-locating the battery park with the wind farm will create an efficient hybrid renewable energy complex. This setup allows excess wind energy to be stored and supplied to the grid during periods of peak demand, enhancing the flexibility and reliability of the Lithuanian energy system. The 196 MWh capacity will help secure the energy reserves necessary for grid stability.

The battery park is scheduled to begin testing and commissioning this summer, with full-scale operations expected by September 2026.
