Green Genius Secures up to €14 Million in Development Financing from INVL Bridge Finance Fund for Solar Projects in Italy

Green Genius, a European renewable energy company, has secured a development financing agreement of up to €14.1 million with the INVL Bridge Finance Fund (INVL). The capital will support the continued development of the company’s solar energy portfolio in Italy.

A part of the financing will be used to refinance an existing loan from Kommunalkredit Austria AG, with the majority directed towards advancing Green Genius’s Italian solar projects to the ready-to-build (RTB) stage. The company’s total solar portfolio in Italy stands at approximately 650 MW of planned capacity. Of this, 170 MW have already achieved RTB status and are currently in the sale process.

“This development financing is a key instrument that allows us to advance projects to a high stage of maturity while maintaining capital flexibility. We are delighted to partner with a trusted financial institution like INVL, which recognises our capability in developing large-scale renewable energy projects across Europe,” said Tadas Balsys, Head of Project Financing and Investments at Green Genius. “Our total pipeline across all markets stands at 3.1 GW, and we continue to assess each project individually-whether to build it ourselves or realise its value through divestment.”

The agreement with INVL Bridge Finance Fund enhances Green Genius’s capacity to progress its Italian pipeline while maintaining capital discipline across its broader European portfolio. The company remains focused on organic growth, the selective monetisation of mature assets, and investing in projects with strong long-term fundamentals.

“Green Genius has demonstrated its ability to successfully implement projects and has built a substantial renewable energy portfolio across Europe. Having worked with the company for many years and contributed to the successful implementation of its projects in Lithuania and Poland, we are well-versed in its achievements and accumulated experience. The portfolio of solar energy projects in Italy represents an attractive opportunity in a market with strong long-term prospects, and this financing will help the company smoothly prepare these projects for the construction stage. We are pleased to continue our partnership with Green Genius and to contribute to the growth of renewable energy infrastructure in Europe in the future,” said Viktorija Vaitkevičienė, Managing Partner of the INVL Private Debt Fund.

Green Genius develops, builds, and operates solar, wind, biogas, and biomethane projects across multiple European markets. The company’s total renewable energy project pipeline currently stands at 3.1 GW.
