Green Genius successfully places EUR 65 million green bonds in the Nordic market

Renewable energy company Green Genius has successfully completed the placement of a EUR 65 million green bond issue. The bonds are expected to be admitted to trading on the Sustainable Bond List of Nasdaq Stockholm. The proceeds from the issue will be used to refinance existing subordinated construction loans.

According to the company, the successful placement in challenging financial market conditions demonstrates investor confidence in Green Genius’s integrated business model and long-term growth strategy.

The green bonds have a maturity of four years and carry a floating rate coupon of 3-month EURIBOR plus 8% p.a.

The transaction attracted strong demand from international institutional investors. The investor base was widely diversified geographically, with bonds allocated to investors across the Nordic and Baltic regions, the United Kingdom, the US, and other markets.

“We are consistently executing our strategic goal of building an operational portfolio of more than 1 GW by 2030. This bond issue allows us to simplify the group’s capital structure and enhance our financial flexibility for further growth. This is particularly important today as we develop an increasingly diversified portfolio spanning solar, wind, biomethane, and battery energy storage solutions across our core markets,” says Ruslan Sklepovič, CEO of Green Genius.

“Raising capital in the Nordic market currently requires a highly robust business model and a clear financial strategy. The successful placement of this EUR 65 million issue among a broad range of international institutional investors is an important validation of the quality of our operating portfolio, growing cash flows, and consistent financial discipline,” says Tadas Balsys, Head of Project Finance and Investments at Green Genius.

The bonds were issued under the 2026 Green Genius Green Financing Framework, which is aligned with the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) Green Bond Principles. Rating agency Moody’s Ratings has provided a Second Party Opinion (SPO) on the framework, assigning it a high Sustainability Quality Score of SQS2 (Very Good).

Currently, Green Genius operates 595 MW of solar, wind, and battery storage assets and produces 108 GWh of biomethane annually. An additional 224 MW of solar and battery projects are in the final stages of construction and are scheduled for grid connection in the coming months. The company’s total development pipeline across all markets stands at 3.1 GW.
