GREEN GENIUS SECURES ADDITIONAL €50 MILLION FROM EBRD

Green Genius, a renewable energy company part of Modus Group, has secured an additional €50 million in equity funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This brings the EBRD’s total investment in the company to €150 million. The new capital will be dedicated to accelerating the company’s strategic expansion, especially into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Following the completion of the deal, the EBRD will maintain its position as a shareholder in Green Genius.

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with the EBRD. Their decision to increase their investment is a powerful endorsement of our strategy and the tangible results our team delivered with the initial funding,” said Ruslan Sklepovič, CEO of Green Genius. “This new capital injection allows us to focus our efforts on a critical area for a stable and sustainable energy future.”

The initial €100 million investment from the EBRD in 2024 was instrumental in accelerating the development of Green Genius’s solar and wind portfolio across the Baltic countries and Poland. These funds directly supported the construction of several large-scale projects, significantly contributing to the company’s growth and the region’s renewable energy capacity.

“Green Genius has demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and efficiency in deploying the initial equity provided to advance its pipeline of energy projects. This has solidified our confidence in their operational capabilities,” said Grzegorz Zielinski, EBRD Head of Energy Europe. “This follow-on investment supports the company’s further strategic expansion. By backing their continued growth, we are contributing to a more diversified and resilient energy system in the region. We trust in the Green Genius team’s ability to execute the next phase of their development.”

“This enduring partnership is about more than just capital; it’s a shared commitment to building a sustainable energy future,” added Ruslan Sklepovič. “The EBRD’s involvement strengthens our governance and reinforces our dedication to the highest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. It’s a testament to the robust and responsible platform we are creating as we evolve into a leading independent power producer in Europe.”

To date, Green Genius’s portfolio of operational and under-construction assets includes nearly 800 MW of renewable electricity capacity and biomethane facilities set to produce 130 GWh annually. The company’s total developed pipeline of 2.7 GW solidifies its role as a key player in Europe’s diverse renewable energy landscape.
